Launched in 2022, TREEO’s first Indonesia project partners with farmers in Ojang Village across 36 hectares under the Flonares initiative. Beyond tree planting, it uplifts the local community, building local ownership and long-term responsibility for environmental conservation.
Alongside Sengon trees, Flonares farmers cultivate rice, cashews, cassava, and bananas. This diversification secures livelihoods, improves soil health, and reflects our holistic land management. By inspiring active community participation, the project turns collective tree planting into a powerful drive against deforestation and climate change.
The Challenge of Monitoring Forest Growth
For decades, reforestation projects suffered from a critical visibility gap. Thousands of saplings would be planted under local initiatives, only to be left unmonitored. Without reliable, continuous data, measuring survival rates, carbon capture viability, and community impact remained mostly speculative. To combat global climate change effectively, the global market demands verifiable, transparent, and accurate carbon metrics.
TREEO's Digital Approach
Through single-tree monitoring app solutions, smallholder farmers across Indonesia are empowered to digitize their forests. Utilizing smartphone cameras, our dMRV (digital Measurement, Reporting, and Verification) system analyzes tree trunk diameter, canopy coverage, and species growth over time. Each tree receives a unique digital identity, linking precise carbon sequestration calculations with trusted global buyers.

Project Outcome
By transferring sustainable nursery management and organic planting practices to local growers, we have officially onboarded regional farmers into the TREEO digital monitoring pipeline. In our first monitoring cycle, ground-truth data successfully verified 9,126 approved trees. This achievement builds a solid foundation for long-term revenue streams for farmers—driven by high-integrity carbon credits certified under Carbon Standards International (CSI) as well as future sustainable timber yields.
Long-Term Partnership
This project in Ojang Village is a shining example of how community-driven projects can lead to meaningful and sustainable change. TREEO's partnership with the local farmers has not only fostered environmental conservation but also empowered the community through sustainable land management practices.
